Just when we'd pretty much decided that this girl was not something we had the funds to try to save, we decided to take a leap of faith that our friends and followers would help us, and help her, make it through!

Meet Merida, we pulled her today from Galveston County Animal Resource Center to try to give her a chance at life. We decided to name her Merida after the main character in the Disney movie BRAVE, because this girl is truly brave. She has not 1, not 2, but 3 broken legs. Yet she doesn't cry or fuss and remains sweet even if you have to pick her up and move her. She just wags her tail and licks you.

She is currently with our friends at Family Animal Hospital Friendswood being assessed. Her treatment may include surgery, possibly an amputation for one of the legs that's most badly damaged, and maybe a trip to A&M for care.

It's going to be a long haul for her and a lot of expense. As soon as we have some estimates, we'll post them, but we're starting with a goal of trying to raise $1000 which we know we'll quickly exceed (care at the GARC vet was almost $300 already).

Please follow Merida's story- we'll provide updates as we have them. If you can donate, we'd love that as well.

Finally, if you're interested in adopting Merida or fostering her, let us know that too. She's about 1.5 years old and weighs 33 lbs, but she's a bit underweight, so we estimate her healthy weight to be about 37 lbs.
